OutfitsPurple for People Who Usually Wear Black
By Toni Mela
From a simple tee to a sharper jacket, one silhouette can do more than one job.

Start with the length, then work upwards. A maxi skirt that clears the ground with your chosen shoes makes a much easier starting point than one you have to keep lifting. These ideas are styling proposals, not a claim about this season’s bestseller.
For daytime, try a plain T-shirt and a light layer. Tuck the tee, leave it loose or tie a small knot if the fabric allows; the point is to find a proportion you enjoy rather than obey a fixed rule.
For a sharper version, add a jacket with a clear shoulder line. Keep the top underneath relatively simple so you can see how the jacket and skirt work together.
For evening, pair the skirt with a fine knit or a fluid shirt and choose one expressive accessory. A long skirt already brings a strong line; you may find that a small bag is all it needs.
Walk, sit and try a few steps before leaving. The outfit should be able to join your plans, not dictate them.
