Your white shirt deserves a second storyline

Three ways to take a familiar shirt out of its usual routine.

The story

A white shirt can be a starting point rather than a finished look. Before shopping for another one, take yours out and change what sits around it.

Try it open over a simple tank with loose trousers. Keep the rest of the outfit relaxed, then add a small bag or a pair of earrings if you want a sharper detail.

For a different proportion, tuck the shirt into a skirt and leave the cuffs visible below a jacket. Check the outfit while sitting as well as standing; a look that needs constant adjustment is unlikely to become a favourite.

For the third version, wear it under a sleeveless knit or an easy sweater with the collar showing. Take a photograph of all three. Keep the version that feels like you, and treat the others as experiments rather than homework.
